Aetherflux

Cowboy Space builds satellites that turn sunlight into computing. The company started in 2024 as Aetherflux, Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt's plan to collect solar power in low orbit and beam it to the ground with lasers. By March 2026 Bhatt said the company had concluded a year earlier that powering AI meant putting the chips in orbit beside the solar panels rather than sending the power down, and it shifted toward space data centres, with a first such satellite planned for 2027.

The company had raised about $80 million by then, and TechCrunch reported it was raising $250 million to $350 million more at a $2 billion valuation, led by Index Ventures. Later in 2026 it renamed itself Cowboy Space Corporation. The Aetherflux domain now lands on the new site, which describes a space-based power grid of solar-powered GPU data centres in low orbit, with offices in San Carlos, California, and Seattle.

Nothing of Cowboy Space's is in orbit. The first data-centre satellite is a 2027 target, and the site's own small print says its capabilities and timelines are design goals rather than demonstrated results.
