Mission
IIT Bombay spinout building propulsion, robotic arms and docking gear for satellite life extension, with four in-orbit missions planned after a $10.5M pre-Series A in August 2026.
InspeCity builds the parts of a servicing spacecraft and plans to fly them one at a time. GITA is a green-propellant thruster, CHAKSU a sensor unit for tracking satellites, RAMA a motorised robotic arm and SPARSH a self-aligning port for refuelling and housekeeping, and the roadmap flies them as RIG-X, VEDA-X and SAMA-X missions that add propulsion, sensing, autonomy, robotics, docking and refuelling in turn. The aim is life extension and deorbiting for satellites already in orbit.
Arindrajit Chowdhury, a professor, founded the company with other IIT Bombay alumni in 2022 and runs it from Thane, outside Mumbai. A $5.6 million seed led by Ashish Kacholia closed in May 2025 with Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India and others, and a ₹100 crore pre-Series A, about $10.5 million, led by Speciale Invest and Kacholia followed in August 2026, with Antler Elevate, Antler India, Manish Gandhi and Shastra VC.
Nothing has flown. The seed round was meant to space-qualify the technologies within a year, and the pre-Series A funds four missions over the next twelve to eighteen months, so the first orbital test of any InspeCity hardware is still ahead.
